Sawicki Real Estate is sad to report that our Broker/Owner, Rick Sawicki died unexpectedly on September 19, 2021.

Rick was a well-known and respected REALTOR® in the Pioneer Valley and active at state and national levels. He served as president of the Realty Association of the Pioneer Valley in 2017-18 and was Realtor of the Year in 2018-19. He has been on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors where he was a member of the Professional Standards Committee, Government Affairs Committee, 2019 Chair Audit Committee, and Western Region RPAC Trustee. He also served on the National Association of Realtors Public Policy Coordinating Committee. Rick is known by many young realtors for his real estate licensing class, taught through the University of Massachusetts continuing education department.

Rick lived in the Pioneer Valley his entire life. He grew up in Pelham, graduated from Amherst High School in 1979, and completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Nichols College in 1983. He and his wife Barbara enjoyed almost 26 years of marriage together.
Rick was active in his community and was a member of the Rotary Club of Amherst. He loved playing and coaching hockey, which he started doing with his sons when they were young. He coached youth hockey in Franklin County for more than 30 years and for many years coached the Pioneer Valley Viper's Women's Hockey Team. The family suggests anyone wishing to make donations in Rickâ€™s honor send them to Franklin County Hockey Association, 41 Barr Avenue, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
